Introduction

Not enough can be said about how wonderful and exciting a simple camping trip can be for all. The easiest way to ensure that you have a great trip is to read up on the best tips and tricks that experienced campers use when they go. Consider the tips that follow for use during your next camping trip.

When and Where to Set up

Coleman Sundome 2-Person Tent (Green, 7-Feet X 5-Feet)

It's imperative that you pitch your tent before the sun goes down. Finding the right spot for your tent, gathering firewood and making dinner are all a lot tougher after darkness settles in. Those that live in urban areas find this to be the case even more than those that are used to pitch black darkness. Do not get yourself into this situation, and find your shelter during daylight hours.

Be aware of where your campsite is. You need to avoid setting up your camping site close to wasp's nests and other insect breeding grounds. If you are next to a lot of vegetation, it is a good idea to wear longer sleeves to protect you from insects. Don't forget to bring along the bug spray. Mosquitoes can ruin an otherwise very pleasant experience in a hurry and can also transmit dangerous diseases to you.  Don't mess around with the little buggers.

Give Everyone a Chance to Choose

Have everyone give their opinion on where you should camp. Discuss what state you want to visit. The U.S. has dozens of great camping options. If it is easier, select a few of your personal favorites and then let the entire family vote.

Be Prepared

Don't worry about over-packing for the kids. Camping can get very messy and dirty when you bring your children. Almost every child will want to play in the dirt or mud, constantly. Children will get dirtier as the day goes on. To prepare, bring additional clothing for your children. Always prepare!Make sure your medical insurance is up-to-date. If you go camping out of state, you may need to have coverage where you go. If you are going to a foreign country, this is especially critical. Be sure you're prepared to be on the safe side!

Keep pictures of your children on you if they are comping with you. If you lose a child at any point, having a picture to show rescuers or search parties could be very useful. Be certain you take a picture in case of an emergency, particularly if you are far away from your home.

Bring along a head band or handkerchief. You can use these as hand towels, cleanup towels, pot holders or anything you need cloth for. There are various uses for this fabric piece, so be sure to carry one on your trip. One handy piece of equipment to take with you when you head out on your next camping trip is a roll of duct tape. Just as it has myriad uses around the house, you can use it for a variety of needs in the woods, too. Tape can be used to seal holes in your sleeping mattress. It works well for repairing tears in tent material, sleeping bags or tarps. Prior to heading off on a long nature hike, place some tape on your heels to avoid blistering. You can even use it to bandage up injuries.

If You're New.... Practice!

Are you just starting out in the world of camping? So, practice setting up your tent and taking it down before you leave home. This will give you the confidence to pitch your tent at any time. That way, you can get things done rapidly once you get to the campsite.

Make a Packing List

Make a list of your required camping gear and double check it while packing. Even just a handful of things missing can really affect your camping experience. It's very helpful to write out a list and cross each item off once you have packed it. Some important things to put on the list are your tent, tarp, water, food, fire-starters, soap and sleeping bag.

Lighting

Be certain to have multiple lanterns or flashlights handy as well as additional batteries. This will ensure everyone remains safe. Having that extra light source might help to prevent a fall or accident, or even getting lost in the woods. It is a great idea to bring one flashlight for each person, especially when camping with children.

Sleeping Bag

Take some time to find the right sleeping bag for the climate conditions at your campsite. Hot weather calls for a lightweight bag, while heavier bags are needed for colder temperatures. If you plan to pitch a tent, make sure your sleeping bag stays snug against your body, as this prevents your body heat from escaping.

This one should be sort of a bible for all things camping. Though, I'm an avid camper who indulges in the outdoor endeavors rather frequently, this info still holds great value for me. There are many little but important things you wrote here which earlier never came to my mind like having duct tapes, ample lighting arrangements, spares, etc.
A must read for every regular and wannabe camper. Thanks!
